MC Building Chemicals were contacted by the client to discuss options of water ingress through the deck plate joints of the cast iron structure.

The initial project was to grit blast, repair and paint the host cast iron. However, this was proving to be impossible due to the water ingress.

MC Building Chemicals have developed a technique to seal steel/cast structures and after a short trial period works on the structure were carried out offering a lead-tight solution to all leaking deck plate joints.

The joints were reinforced with a MC Building Chemicals flexible polyurethane for the client to overpaint with the Network Rail approved paint to match existing.
